Matching Grant. Beginning September 1, 2014, this Dunham Fund challenge grant will match $1 for $1 up to $750,000 raised by AID over a three year period for its Investing Today, Ensuring Tomorrow campaign. With this grant, the Dunham Fund will be the lead donor for this $2M campaign intended to create new and preserve existing support services and facilities to meet the needs of the growing adult population with disabilities in Kane and Kendall counties.
In 2013, AID served 4,681 children and adults with disabilities in Kane, Kendall, DeKalb, DuPage, Will and suburban Cook counties in Illinois. It operates 7-day program/training centers in Elgin, Aurora, Batavia and Yorkville, a mental health center in Aurora and 41 home-based, supervised and supported living facilities throughout Kane and Kendall counties. In 2014, there are 1,400 adults on the waiting list for services and it is anticipated that an additional 8,000 students currently enrolled in special education classes in community schools will need adult services in the future.
