Challenge grant not to exceed $37,500 payable at $1 for every $1 raised by Family Focus through December 31, 2017
Family Focus of Aurora (FFA) will employ a consultant to conduct a needs assessment of adult education and workforce development offerings and will create a collaborative pathways plan with Waubonsee Community College and other Aurora area literacy providers, to expand FFA’s adult literacy programming.
Family Focus will lead the transition from a collective of adult literacy organizations into a local career pathways system resulting in an interactive system for adults, at any education level, to have access to educational and workforce development opportunities. FFA is currently strengthening and formalizing its partnership with Waubonsee Community College and the Greater Aurora Area Literacy Coalition to create a strategic plan for adult education offerings.
With the support of Dunham Fund, the McCormick Foundation and Chicago Tribune Charities and in discussion with experts in workforce development and Chicago City Colleges, Family Focus is forging an innovative program initiative that is not only best practice, but unique to adult literacy education.
