SciTech Hands On Museum

The augmented reality sandbox brings a whole new dimension to teaching, and meshes perfectly with most academic science curriculums. Through this Dunham Fund grant, SciTech Hands On Museum is able to offer a sonic projector and kinetic sand that allows students to mold rivers, valleys and mountains.

In creating and studying these landscapes, students learn about topography, watersheds, land formations and geology, hydrology and erosion, all topics that can be easily visualized and experienced by using the special sandbox. By opening the door to experiential learning, students get an understanding of water conversation, problem solving and how to effectively use maps, making this sandbox a veritable gold mine of hands-on education.
