Help the Paramount Theatre complete their Dunham Fund Matching Donation Campaign to replace all theatre seats in the historic theatre! When you buy a seat, your donation will be matched…it’s like buying one and getting the second seat free. Along with your generous $400 donation, you, and/or your family’s name will be prominently displayed on the Save-A-Seat plaque in the Grand Gallery.
The Paramount Theatre has begun the massive process to replace the seats in the front orchestra and the balcony sections in anticipation of the 2018-2019 Broadway season. Seats in the back of the house will be replaced at the end of the Broadway series.
There is still time to help the Paramount Theatre replace ALL of the 87-year-old seats! Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today, no matter the amount, and help the Paramount reach their goal.
Friends of Aurora After-School Program (FAAP) with other local partners worked together this summer to strengthen reading for the youngest of kiddos all the way to 8-year-olds.
This summer, FAAP Reading Mentors, traveled to nine East Aurora School Elementary Libraries to promote reading, teach sight words, and promote programs at the Aurora Public Library. FAAP mentors along with the Cat in the Hat, visited each school library to read with children grades K-2. Children were able to choose a Dr. Seuss book from FAAP’s traveling book collection which was purchased with a recent grant from our friend and funding partner, the Community Foundation of Fox River Valley, to read with their buddy. Students also played “Sight Word Bingo for Books” for a chance to win a free book to take home and keep.
FAAP had generous sponsors who supplied books that were given away at the summer programs which include: SPARK (Strong, Prepared and Ready for Kindergarten), PNC Bank, and The Bookworm Foundation.
Community leaders got in on the fun by calling Bingo for Books Program! A few of the local bingo callers were Deputy Mayor Chuck Nelson, Aurora Firefighter Steve Koeberl, Parent and Community Involvement Coordinator for East Aurora Schools Alfred Morales, and Hall Principal Cherie Esposito.
Aurora Santori Public Library staff promoted, registered, and hosted FAAP Summer Reading Buddies for eight weeks this summer and assisted with nine Family Library Nights this year which brought over 200 families to the library.
The Dunham Fund is proud to join the efforts with many community stakeholders to support children in Aurora learn to read.
