Spectrios Institute for Low Vision received a Dunham Fund grant for nearly $60,000 in 2017 to bring low-vision rehabilitation to adults and children in the Aurora area.
Since then, they have realized their goal with a mobile clinic that allows doctors to provide on-site exams to patients in their homes, at retirement centers or nursing homes who suffer vision impairment or risk of vision loss.
The mobile clinic also visits schools in the Dunham Fund Service Area and provides exams and glasses to children who could not otherwise afford to visit an eye doctor. Priority is given to those who cannot afford exams, glasses or other vision aids.
The Dunham Fund is proud to support Spectrios Institute for Low Vision as it improves accessibility to vision care in the Aurora Area.
In the wake of the unfortunate tragedy on February 15th at the Henry Pratt building, the Dunham Fund chose to honor the victim’s families and employees of the Henry Pratt Company by providing a grant to the Aurora/Pratt Survivors Fund. The Dunham Fund offered a $1 for $1 matching grant up to $100,000 through the GoFundMe site administered by the National Compassion Fund.
We are pleased to announce this campaign has exceeded the $100,000 challenge. However, the Aurora/Pratt Survivors Fund continues to grow to reach their goal of $500,000. There is still time to help those impacted!
Earlier this year, the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley invited the Grand Victoria Foundation and the Dunham Fund to participate in their first Funders Panel. 60 area nonprofits were able to learn funding priorities, grant cycle dates and hear about what funders look for when considering a proposal from each of the presenting funders.
If you are interested in receiving an invitation to future Funders Panel events or would like to suggest topics to be covered, please email us: email@example.com to be included to the list.
